About the Role

Christian Aid is seeking to recruit a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Officer who would be responsible for the contribution to the progress of the country programme towards its strategic goals through development and maintaining effective monitoring and evaluation system. To provide support to projects implementation particularly to EU funded projects and programmes and to lead monitoring and impact evaluation, create conditions so that learning is fed into programme decision-making, to contribute to the development of Christian Aid policy and strategy.

 To work with partner organizations and providing support to ensure the effectiveness of the application of downward accountability mechanisms, such as HAP, international standards and bench-marks in line with Christian Aid corporate/country strategy, to develop systems of documentation of learnings and best practices, to organize and share internally and with external stakeholders.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who have a skill/experience on partners’ performance management and for developing plans to improve the performance of partner staff, volunteers or others. You will give capacity building support where it is required; and assist others to develop, implement and update their monitoring and evaluation systems. You will need to be pro-active, solutions-focused and have strong interpersonal skills. You will be a team player, able to establish good relationships across the various stakeholders (including local NGOs, INGOs, government, private sector and external partners). Moreover, since you may have a project management responsibility for directing work of others and may take a responsibility for ensuring that work quality and professional standards are maintained, the corresponding knowledge and experience for these tasks is highly demanded. You are required to have demonstrated experience of working on EU funded projects and programmes.

In addition, you need to be educated to at least degree level preferably in developmental economics, statistics, M&E, Project Management, other social sciences, or development related disciplines, with at least 7 years’ experience in international NGO setting on the areas of monitoring and evaluation. It would be desirable for the candidate to have a good understanding of issues such as gender, accountability, policy, and disaster risk reduction. It is essential for the candidate to have strong skills, knowledge and experience in:

  • Different M & E tools/ Soft ware
  • Documentation & Report Writing
  • Developing and using performance monitoring and evaluation, especially developing outcome indicators, managing data collection and undertaking data analysis
  • Monitoring and evaluating projects and programmes for donors such as the European Union or other large Donors
  • Computer use, including high levels of literacy in database and spread sheet applications
  • Interpersonal communication, including oral and written English communication skills
  • Working on with international co-operating partners, and particularly non-governmental organizations
