Central Supporter Engagement Advisor

Permanent. Full time. Hybrid working. (You will be required to attend the office for a minimum of 2 days per week with the option to work remotely for the remaining 3 days).

Location: Warrington, UK

Salary: £41,783 per annum

About the role

Reporting in to the Church & Supporter Engagement Lead, the Central Supporter Engagement Advisor will lead and inspire a team of Church Engagement Support Officers, ensuring exceptional stewardship and engagement with churches, Christian Aid groups, and the
wider public to support Christian Aid’s values and goals.

The post-holder will oversee the stewardship of existing churches; the engagement and acquisition of new and lapsed churches; the supporter care and enquiry management of existing and prospective supporters; and the processing of Christian Aid fundraised income.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Central Supporter Engagement Advisor include:

  • Management of a team of Church Engagement Support Officers, fostering a collaborative mindset and creating an environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
  • Build trusted relationships with churches, groups, and individuals, ensuring strong connections between teams for effective stewardship and seamless information-sharing.
  • Actively identify and engage prospective churches across England, Scotland, and Wales, inspiring them to Give, Act, and Pray with Christian Aid through tailored programmes of activity.
  • Development and delivery of impactful projects to engage our existing supporting churches in key appeals and campaigns.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning in relation to delivering high impact supporter engagement and care, including communications with supporters via telephone and email, the maintenance of supporter records, timely response to enquiries, thanking of donations, and the handling of feedback and complaints.
  • Oversight of income processing ensuring that income is processed and recorded in a timely and accurate fashion according to agreed procedures and policies.
  • Ensure dynamic developments and integrations are implemented to improve income processing functions. Gift Aid Declarations are accurately processed and recorded, and information required for external and internal audit purposes is prepared.
  • Manage the Warrington office to ensure it is a safe, welcoming, and efficient space for the team and visitors.
  • Recruit and empower volunteers to build capacity and deliver maximum impact, modelling accountability and striving for cost-effective solutions that streamline decision-making and foster consensus.

 

About you

Who we are looking for

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience of line management and working with volunteers, managing personal and team resources.
  • Developed knowledge and experience of working with church audiences, church networks and donor management.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information/data to prioritise work, to achieve results.
  • Developed communication skills with the ability to influence, inspire and encourage others.
  • Experience of customer databases.
  • Assertiveness to set and deal with supporters whose expectations cannot be met.
  • Awareness of data protection regulation.
  • Understanding and experience of continuous improvement processes.
  • Experience of working to targets and deliver to deadlines.
  • Ability to recognise when to seek help or appropriate assistance from colleagues.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of fundraising, compliance, health and safety, and data protection policies and regulations.
  • Experience of delivering to a budget, keeping within financial limits, and monitoring and forecasting expenditure.
